Pushy marketing tactics have been BANNED by the EU calling them Dark Patterns in Marketing, and I couldn’t be more thrilled.  Fake countdown timers.  Shame-inducing opt-ins.  Lying webinars.  Bait and switch tactics.  Now the companies relying on these things can be BANNED, fined, and even ruined.  Yay! 

I’ve been preaching and teaching against these tactics for a long time, and I was seen by a sort of marketing prude for many years – even by “conscious” marketers who made excuses for using manipulation and calling them “NLP” or gamifying.  Nope.  

Now not only is this crap banned, but it’s also NOT WORKING anymore.  People in general are too skeptical, cynical, and burned too badly to fall for it.  Now begins an age where the marketing bros will be copying what we compassionate marking sisters have been doing for years.
